Saturday Shout Out

It's been busy here at Bite Club. We have many new minions, 73 followers now, and I am glad that word is spreading. I would still like to feature as many people as possible during our Minion Monday so if you would be interested in sharing a small bio of yourself (including some information telling readers what you enjoy about vampire fiction, what sub genre you read most, maybe a TBR list) send me an email and we'll arrange a day to post.

I'm still working on all the author spotlight posts which is taking more time since we chose an anthology for our book club, and that will continue up until our big chat weekend. We are planning for some great discussions about the book and many authors have agreed to stop by. Don't forget- discussion starts on October 30th and will continue throughout the weekend.

Now I want to hear from you! How many of you have started reading our Bite Club selection? Anybody done yet? What else are you reading? Are your TBR piles as out of control as mine are? Any big plans for Halloween?

I have been reading, but I have been skipping around in the book. I love what I have read so far!!

I am also reading Drawn into Darkness by Annette McCleave. It is really good!!

My TBR Pile has been out of control for years. I give up. I just signed up on Gookreads the other day and in the past year I have read over two hundred books. I probably have about that in my TBR Pile. Its never ending.

My husband an MP in the army and has to work Halloween Night so I will just be passing out candy, eating popcorn and watching halloween movies. I think I am going to watch Hocus Pocus.

Hi Anna. I just finished the book this morning. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the stories and discovered some new authors in the process. I'm going to start A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris tonight. And yes, my TBR piles are ridiculously out of control.

No fancy plans this Halloween. I'll probably take my little sisters trick or treating.

Alicia0605 - I've been wanting to check out Drawn into Darkness. How do you feel about it so far??

Alicia0605- I haven't heard of Gookreads but I am going to check it out. I'm not really sure I want to know how many books I read per year but I would love a way to keep track of what books I've read. After awhile the blurbs sound the same:) I keep a list of favorite authors so I know when books come out but I need something more streamlined.

My husband is in the Air Force but he has the night off and since it is the first time in 3 years he has been home for Halloween, I am assigning him trick or treat duty.

Hey there Jen! I just re-read all the Sookie Stackhouse books because it had been awhile and I am glad that I did. Are you an Eric fan or do you pull for Bill? Or even for some of the other hot, sexy guys Sookie meets up with? I'm really hoping that Eric is "the one", although I wasn't at the beginning. I just think he accepts Sookie as she is and as soon as she does the same it will all be HEA. Do you watch the show? What do you like better- book or television?

Hi Anna! I recently lent the books to my sister and she loved them. Unfortunately, I read them a while back and realized I had forgotten half the stuff she was talking about. I need to add them to TBRR pile. ;) As far as love interests go, I'm on Team Sam. I feel bad that he gets overlooked because he's a 'nice guy'. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Bill and Eric but I kind of feel like at the end of the day it's about them and not Sookie. (Please note I have not read Dead and Gone and my opinion may or may not change).

I do watch the show. I actually got my boyfriend hooked on it. MWUAHAHA! I don't say this often but I actually like both of them. The show is a bit different but the story lines that don't exist in the book still make sense within the scope of the Sookie universe.

Jen- Team Sam? Really? I just don't get into him very much. I also got my husband hooked on True Blood! It's our show and its so interesting discussing the show with him because he has such a different point of view. We haven't seen season 2 yet so we're waiting for the dvd's. Can't wait to see them!! maybe we should do the first book for a Bite Club selection? That would be really cool- go back and do a whole compare/contrast on the show vs the book.

Hi Anna! I feel bad for the guy. Nice guys shouldn't always finish last. But I haven't read the books in a while so maybe he's kind of a douche and I just forgot. =)

My boyfriend gets mad when I make the 'that's not how it happens in the book' comment. Season 2 was really really good. We watched it religiously. What were some of your favorite and least favorite things about Season 1??

I love the idea of a compare/contrast chat on the show and book. If it pans out you can definitely count me in.

I have nothing against good guys but Sam just seems almost weak, at least for your typical shifter. Just look at some of the others that Sookie encounters in the book- alpha males all the way. I guess that floats my book, ya know? Quinn is a favorite of mine and I hope he eventually makes the TV series. As for things about season 1...I have to watch the show almost as a separate thing from the books. Otherwise I am constantly comparing them. I enjoy both for different reasons. Pam is a favorite of mine in both forms(book and show). I have to say that I like all these characters immensely. One thing I really like in the show is Lafayette. His character on tv is so much fun.

I liked Quinn too. I think that whole scenario should have played out differently.

I looove me some Lafayette. I love it when actors totally embrace and emerse themselves in their roles. He's one of the main reasons why I like the show so much.
