Saturday Shout Out

Time seems to be flying towards the end of 2009 at a speed which makes my head spin. Where did the year go? I swear it was just the end of summer (not too long ago) and the kids were just starting school. Now we've zoomed through fall (a lovely time of year, really) and winter is banging on the door and threatening to dump snow all over my weekends. Wow! Now we have the holidays, travel, and next thing ya know we'll be toasting the New Year. And without trying to sound like that weirdo Mindfreak guy... Are you ready?

Has anyone found time to read? Any good books last week? What do you have on your TBR pile? Any good holiday themed books with vampires?

I finished Once Bitten and have been working on discussion ideas. Anyone else start Once Bitten? If so, what did you think- without spoilers of course.

I finished Once Bitten on the 15th. I kept giving the main character a southern accent.

I'm trying hard to finish Wolfbane and Misletoe which not being an anthology reader is becoming more and more difficult; I keep waiting for the Questions and the Bubble Answer sheet to pop out of the book.

I was thrilled to discover you can now get - free - Kindle for PC. I downloaded Once Bitten last night and read the first chapter.
I'd love to have the discussion questions already when I read - it would focus my attention.

Hi Anna!

Finished Once Bitten last week and about to start Kelly Meding's Three Days to Dead. I needed a non-romantic, scary vampire fix.

I love the idea of having the discussion questions beforehand. I do worry about spoilers but I can figure something out to prevent too much from being revealed. I'll try to get them up early for next month when we read Rush Of Wings.

All I have for Once Bitten so far are some basic ideas for questions- the mystery of the book versus the romance, the locations mentioned, and the Goth scene. I'd like to do something with the cast of characters as well because I find the secondary characters to be interesting too. During the club scenes the reader meets various 'spooky' people and witnesses a bizarre ritual, both of which I'd like to discuss. Hope that helps without spoiling too much.

I haven't had a chance to read much this week but I have received a few books for review. I'll be taking them with me when I travel for the holidays and should have the reviews posted on VampChix in a couple weeks. Fingers crossed.

I also got a giant box of books from Amazon as an early Christmas present. All are urban fantasy and vampires so I'm super excited about that.

I've been reading as much as possible. All of my holiday reads are mysteries and one or two are vampire related. LEGACY - Jeanne C Stein. Up next is SILENT NIGHT, HAUNTED NIGHT - Terri Garey.
Perfect Christmas gift for you, I'm thinkin'. Look forward to seeing what you got from Amazon.

Vickie- I discovered Jeanne Stein when we read MBVR2 and I have her down on my list of authors I need to read. I'm going to check out the Garey book because its a new title to me. It amazes me that with the amount of time I put into this blog about vampire books that I still miss so many talented authors.

I'll let you know about my Amazon box when I get it. I ordered some great titles. I should have gotten it today but 20+ inches of snow prevented mail delivery. Strange, because I thought they delivered all the time, no matter what. I'm okay with it though because the roads were terrible and couldn't be plowed yet.

I am reading Lara Adrian's Breed series. I am reading Veil of Midnight. Her stories are like JR Ward's, just not as dark.

I haven't sat down to read Once Bitten, yet, I have read other titles this weekend. JR Wards Lover Eternal, I am really surprised how much I enjoy the series. The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong was so good I went out and bought the next in the series. I've just started Rachel Vincent's My Soul to Take, here's hoping it will be as good as her Werecats series.
