Who doesn't love Renfield? He makes his first appearance in the story as Dr. Seward records his mysterious activity on the phonograph. He starts with flies, then on to spiders, then sparrows, and then...a kitten. Oh, please could he have a kitten? Seward wonders "why not a cat?" and Renfield couldn't have dreamed to ask for something so wonderful, but "yes, a cat". Seward labels him a zoophagous maniac, meaning he is 'eating life', and wagers he will only increase his desires by size.
Renfield has starred in a few books himself:

Renfield seems a little creepy. I will give him a cat. :)
I adore Renfield. He's the much needed manic-relief in the story.
I think we should have an Igor/Renfield smackdown. Who makes the better minion:)
I've always liked Renfield and felt a little sorry for him. After all, he just tries to please his master and being a crayons short of a box isn't exactly his fault. And he is funny! Giving him the cat might be a good idea:)
