Walden Pond Press and new friends

Walden Media

A few weeks ago I won a contest from There's a Book and it contained a prize pack of children's fiction from Walden Pond Press, which is an imprint of HarperCollins. I knew Walden Media made excellent family movies but I didn't know that they were also part of the publishing world. Most of the giveaway books seemed to be aimed at the 8-12 age range and about half were for boys. Any mom of boys knows that finding good books can be tough, so I added my name to the contest and won. Talk about excited!

The Fourth Stall

I gave the books (on a temporary basis) to a teacher friend that loves to read since my schedule is mega full right now, but not before my kids each grabbed a book to read for themselves. I can't even begin to guess how great these titles are (The Fourth Stall, and Juniper Berry) but I do know that my kids are having a great time reading. My son even laughed...until he noticed that I noticed him. We plan on reading the rest before summer ends and I will put up reviews at the Goodreads page for sure, since they don't all have a supernatural theme or paranormal element, with a few showing up here at Bite Club. I never really showcase children's fiction but with the market so full of monsters, magic and fantastical beings, it seems like a good fit. We'll give it a try.

Juniper Berry

And the teacher friend I mentioned earlier...she's going to be our newest reviewer, specializing in children's and YA paranormal fiction. I asked her to make a little bio, so we could get to know her better. ::Drumroll:: Everyone, please meet the awesome and cool Jenny!!!

My name is Jenny Osborne, some choose to call me Jenny O. I am a mom, teacher and avid reader. I teach and mom by day, and read, read, read at night.  I love that books allow you to visit other places and leave everyday life behind.  I think that good books are fun to share and read over and over again. I don’t think I have a specific type of book that I would say were my favorite. I like all types of books. I do have to say though that young adult and children’s books are what I normally lean toward. Being a teacher I like to read things that I might recommend to my students, and I gravitate toward young adult fiction because it just seems like more fun than many “grown up” books.   I like to talk about the books I read so it is fun to write reviews about them.  I started a blog with a friend mainly because then others can see what I read, and maybe get a good book. And also to help me remember what I read.  If you don’t like what I read, read something else.   Here is the link to my blog.  Enjoy! http://jennyandtarabooks.blogspot.com
