True Blood Season 3 Kick Off Post

*WARNING*
*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Who's ready for the True Blood Season 3 Premiere on June 13th?

*puts hand to ear Hulk Hogan style*

C’mon guys, you can do better than that. Who’s ready for the ridiculously good looking men and women of one of our favorite TV shows?

*crowd roars*

See…now that’s what I’m talking about!

Before I present you with all the awesomeness coming our way for Season 3, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and talk some Season 2 highlights:

Season 2 Highlights

Jessica

Although Jessica doesn’t appear in the books I think she’s a fun addition to the series. I love that Bill has to learn how to deal with a teenage vampire. The angst, the drama, the whining…it’s all one hell of an emotional rollercoaster and I love it when poor Bill loses his cool.

Jason

Jason, Jason, my poor Jason. The guy is hot as a tea kettle and dumb as a door knob but, he manages to pull off some of the funniest scenes in Season 2. Take for example his special bath time with the preacher’s wife that results in a, ahem, 'happy ending'. Or the most hilarious diversion attempt I’ve ever seen in TV history. The guy had me laughing so hard my sides hurt.

Dramatic Showdowns

I love me some dramatic showdowns and Season 2 had its fair share. Two of the standouts for me were the Fellowship of the Sun crazies vs. the vamps and when Sam takes out Maryann while in the form of a bull. Don’t worry folks, I’m sure horns through the chest only stings a little.

Honorable Mention

I have to give out an honorable mention to the delectable Benedict 'Eggs' Talley. Beautiful come hither eyes, sexy smile and abs you can wash clothes on….need I say more?

Season 3 Promo Goodies

Now for the meat and potatoes you’ve all been waiting for...

HBO is pretty consistent with putting out amazing promo material for this series. Here are some of my favorite True Blood posters:

These are only outdone by the minisodes and preview clips they’ve let loose on us rabid fans. I couldn’t nab my favorite minisode from HBO (I’m guessing because of the Rated R content *wiggles eyebrows*). So I'll show my second favorite clips.

To see the more risqué minisodes click here.

I'm guessing you guys have seen crazy amounts of previews but, I found this Ultimate Fan preview which contains the best parts of everything released to date.

Meet some of the new cast from Season 3

Let me introduce you to some of the newbies we can expect to see this season:

Alcide Herveaux
(Joe Manganiello)

Calvin Norris
(Gregory Sporleder)

Crystal Norris
(Lindsay Pulsipher)

Debbie Pelt
(Brit Morgan)

Claudine
(Lara Pulver)

Russell Edgington
(Denis O’Hare)

Talbot
(Theo Alexander)

Franklin Mott
(James Frain)
What I'm Most Looking Forward to in Season 3

I don’t know about you but, I was all kinds of excited to see the clip of Sookie loading up a pistol getting ready to take care of business. I love it when I woman takes charge and fights for what she wants. The other thing I’m looking forward to is some yummy werewolf eye candy (Alcide I’m looking at you kid). I’m also interested to see how they pull off the werewolf shifting specials effects.

What say you fellow True Blooders? What were your favorite Season 2 highlights? What new cast members are you most excited about? What are you most looking forward to in Season 3?

Don’t forget to stop by on Monday, June 14th for the Episode 1 recap and highlights.

HAPPY FANGING!!

Definitely looking forward to the new season. My favorite season 2 moments were mostly Eric-centered. I'm looking forward to Alcide and Claudine mostly for the new characters.

Bring it on!! Whoo-whoo! It looks like Season 3 is gonna be the best yet. My fave of Season 2 is any scene with Eric but I also love the scenes with Jason. My least fave is any scene with Marianne, so happy they killed her off so we don't have to be saddled with her again.

Have my DVD set to record. But after seeing the photo of Alcide Herveaux I going to have to watch it live. Can you say "Eye Candy".
Must admit that I like to books more than the tv series.

Thanks for stopping by! I had a great time searching for delicious man candy photos.

@Janet: I'm with you on Alcide and Claudine. Especially the Alcide part. ;-)

@Dot S.: I agree. I think Season 3 is going to leave Seasons 1 and 2 in the dust.

@Lovie: There's certain aspects of the book that I like better than the show and vice versa. One thing that I'm glad didn't follow the books is Lafayette's character. It would've been a shame to lose him in Season 1 because he's one of my favorites on the show.

I am SO excited!!!
I seriously can not wait for this! This is when you start seeing more of Eric so i am extremely happy.
Team Eric!!

Favorite Scene:

When Eric storms into the basement with foils in his hair, brutally kills that dude and then asks Lafayette if he has blood in his hair. Cracked me up that he was worried about what Pam would say! Also a great introduction to the new hair.

Another good scene:

Jessica's impersonation of Bill! She is such a great addition to the show and I hope she gets a good storyline this season.

@Leilani: I'm probably going to catch hell for this but, I'm not feeling Eric. I don't like him in the books either.

@Anna: LOL...I totally forgot about both those scenes. I agree. I hope Jessica gets more love this season.

Aggh! I wish I got this channel, but do not. I will have to wait for it all to come out on DVD and buy the box set. Something to look forward to!

Great post, Jen! Welcome to the VampChix/Bite Club family!

Thanks Michele! It was a lot of fun to work on. And thanks for the warm welcome.

Gah! Man, life is sooo, un-fair! lol. I was able to watch the first season of this but didn't get to see but half of an episode of season two. I don't get this channle and my brother, who was supporting my little True Blood addiction decided to nix the channle from his list. So, *sniffles* I won't get to see season 3 either. The DVD sets are just too expensive for me. But, please feel free to spoil the show for me. I shall now, latch onto you for my addiction cures. LOL!

OOOOOO hadn't heard about all of the new cast, so thanks for that! Now my knickers are even more in a twist about the season opener tonight! Wheeeee

Okay. So.
Alcide looks almost like how I imagined him when reading the books, Crystal does, a little bit too. However the rest of the cast kinda is a bit blah. Claudine, for instance, is the worst let down. But. I bet the way they changed the story up, as they do on True Blood, she'll suit their version of Claudine better. I'm psyched to see how this season turns out -- I'm still hung up on the huge cliffhanger of season two. Finally. Yes. Finally! We get to find out what happened to Bill!
And will Sookie have, erm, relations, with Alcide? Hmmmm
This season is going to be all kinds a vamping fun!

Jen D. @ Not Now...I'm Reading! said...

@Jessica: I'll happily provide with your True Blood fix!

@Jo-Anne: Not a problem. I'll try to keep you all as up to date as possible. I'm also kind of disappointed with the casting for Claudine. I'm hoping relations are had and soon. ;-)
