It was announced that Courtney Ford (who starred on “Dexter”) has joined the cast of the Vampire Diaries to play Vanessa, a graduate student from Duke University. Vanessa will help Alaric, Damon, and Elena look through Isobel’s old research files.
Executive Producer Kevin Williamson did drop some hints about this character at Comic-Con. "We do know in the third episode Alaric (Matt Davis) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) travel to Duke University to look at paranormal research and there is a grad student there who helps them dig into it and you know...she's not without her own intrigue," At this point I’m hoping that Vanessa will eventually be a love interest of Alaric. I mean seriously, Damon has his own problems with Katherine. Even Kevin doesn’t know if Vanessa will be around for long… he says they might decide to “gut her like a fish.”
The CW put out some exciting previews of the upcoming season of The Vampire Diaries! This one features Katherine, Stefan, and Damon and if I do say so myself, it's very sexy... I'm excited to share with you guys a promo titled "Cosmic Love"...
The second season 2 promo they released features Katherine going head to head with Bonnie and coming face to face with Elena..... Also make sure to keep an eye out for the Katherine/Damon action. Now this is an action packed promo....

I have to admit... after the last photo of Damon I am SO excited for the season to start. Next week tune in for a recap of Season one... and a comparison between the TV series and the books!
