Contest and Promo: Master and Apprentice by Sonya Bateman

A DEADLY CULT. AN UNBREAKABLE CURSE. THE RULES ARE SIMPLE: LEARN TO KILL . . . OR DIE.

Luck has never been on Gavyn Donatti's side. Anyone else with magic abilities inherited from a distant genie relative would have it made, but not Donatti, descendant of a cranky, shape-shifting genie named Ian. The prince of a murdered kingdom, consumed with revenge and driven by an unbreakable curse, Ian is determined to hunt down and destroy every last one of his enemies in the power-hungry snake clan—at any cost, including his life. Or Donatti's. Obsessed by his own rage, Ian has never really taught Donatti how to use his abilities. So when a powerful cult of magic-users captures Ian's wife, the princess Akila, and then Ian himself, Donatti is left alone to take on dozens of half-djinn and their mysterious leader with designs on world domination. Facing an impossible mission, Donatti is forced to turn to an enemy for help—one who claims to know how to unlock his true potential. Trusting a snake might be the last mistake Donatti ever makes—but if he doesn't learn to wield the power inside him, everyone will pay the ultimate price.

Other books in the series:

Two lucky readers can win a copy of Master and Apprentice and to get your name tossed in the magic hat just leave a comment bout djinn, magic, snake shifters or your opinion about the first book. I haven't read Master of None but have heard nothing but awesome things, which is why it is sitting in my TBR pile waiting for me to have extra time. Maybe I need a genie of my own?

As always, leave an email if one cannot be easily found in your profile. This contest is US only, no P.O. boxes, and will run until 3/31. The winners will be announced the following Saturday.

My interest in magic-heavy books has grown a bit over the last few years and I love it! My "to read" list for this summer grows each and every day.

Master of None is still in my TBR pile, too. I can't believe the second book is already out! I like the change that magic and djinn offer from the "normal" UF books on vamps and weres. Thanks for the giveaway. (email in profile)

I'm feeling like I've been missing out on a genre. I need to broden my horizons and include Djinns.

I haven't read Master of None yet either, but it's been on my wishlist since I first heard about it. I love reading about magic because there's just so much that can be done with it that authors can get really creative.

I haven't read these books yet. They're outside what I usually read, but I'd love to give it a try.

I've been wanting to read Master of None for quite some time now. I think a snake shifter would be pretty cool. I've always loved djinn, but I know I could never figure out the right way to word my wish so that I didn't mess it up.

I haven't read either of these. But it will be the first time I'm reading about snake shifters and the Djinn. Love a change and lots of magic.

I got the chance to read "Master of None" recently.I had heard so many good things about it, but I didn't have the funds to purchase it and my library didn't have it. But my library has a statewide lending program, and I managed to find it there, I was so excited!

Now, having read book one, I simply cannot wait for book two!

I have always been fascinated by magic and love reading it in stories. Am rather intrigued by the idea of snake shifters. One doesn't come across such characters major or minor in stories very often.
