Monday at the Movies: Cirque Du Freak The Vampire's Assistant (2009)

Summary:

A young boy named Darren Shan meets a mysterious man at a freak show who turns out to be a Vampire. After a series of events Darren must leave his normal life and go on the road with the Cirque Du Freak and become a Vampire.

Quotes:
Larten Crepsley~Your mouth says no, but your beard says yes.

Larten~ Thank you ladies and gentlemen. I am so excited to be here in an anonymous small town that used to have character but is now just a bland suburb filled with chain stores and surrounded by slums.
It really is a pleasure to be here. And I am SO honored that blah blah blah and so on and so forth and excetera ad nauseum.

John C. Reilly is so cheesy and hokey as the vampire but he has some great lines. And the cheesiness is part of the charm. I love this as a family movie (rated PG 13 and does have some language to deal with) and the books are awesome too! Wish this film did better in the theaters because the series had potential. The freak show was filled with a very talented cast, the story was good and it isn't all that often that a paranormal movies come out that will appeal to the whole family.

I received free tickets to see a premiere of this movie. I wasn't expecting much at first but, I ended up enjoying it. I haven't read the books they're based on so that might be why I initially liked the movie. You know how that whole thing goes...

This is such a fun flick! I have been trying to get it on DVD, but at least HBO shows it from time to time.
