BEWARE! CONTAINS SPOILERS & OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
It is with a heavy heart that I declare True Blood season 4 over. *sigh* The finale was a little all over the place but, the main theme I noticed throughout the show was closure. Before we get to the juicy bits I just want to take a second to thank you guys for supporting these recap posts. It means a lot to me that you guys take time out of your day to visit and talk shop with me. It's what I miss most during the off season. Please feel free to visit me if the Jen D. blues become to much to bear. ;-) Anywho, let's discuss the finale shall we?
- I can't believe Jesus took a fork the hand!
- The conversation between Sook and Tara about the porch was very sweet.
- The moment Sam and Maxine had at Tommy's grave was very touching. I almost got misty-eyed when Luna and Emma joined him. I hope she sticks around.
- The pep talk Jason gives himself before talking to Hoyt was hilarious. The ugliness that happened afterward, not so much.
- Arlene and Terry dressed as zombies was classic!
- I had a feeling Jesus was going to die. I just didn't think it would be at the hands of Lafayette who's possessed by that bitch Marnie.
- Arlene's daughter's Teen Mom costume was priceless!
- Anyone else think Patrick is hella creepy?!
- Damn it Sookie! Just give Alcide a chance. He's got a fabulous pair of butt cheeks for Pete's sake!
- Mother Earth's Valium and Wiccan First Aid Kit were probably some of the funniest lines this season.
- Vampire s'mores anyone? I kid! I kid! The whole Bill and Eric rescue was a bit underwhelming. Not to mention the whole spell casting that rids Lafayette of Marnie's spirit. I mean seriously? These three yahoos could get rid of Marnie's spirit even with her controlling Jesus' demon magic. Yeah, I'm not buying it.
- I could've done without Marnie's whine fest.
- I love that Gran made an appearance even if it was kind of sad.
- Speaking of guest appearances, interesting that they brought back Renee and Steve Newlin. Although my sister's fiance thinks that he wasn't an apparition. What was up with Renee's warning? Thoughts?
- That might have been the sexiest Little Red Hiding Hood I've ever seen. I thought Jason and Jess' after sex convo was funny and sweet all at the same time.
- Poor Pam. Home girl is distraught! I'd go as far as saying she's having a complete mental breakdown.
- I cried when Jesus came to visit Lafayette. My heart was breaking for him. I mean he loses his lover and is stuck with his demon all in one episode. A bit much, no?
- THE BREAK UP SCENE! That is all.
- I hope Holly gives Andy's crazy ass a chance.
- What's with the wolf ambush on Sam?
- Guess who's back? That's right folks. It's none other than Mr. Russell Edgington! Oh noes!!
- No one threatens Sookie's life. And I mean NO ONE. Bill and Eric make one hell of a death squad. I like that they're working together.
- OMG WTF was up with the Debbie/Sookie/Tara ending?!?! I wanted her to go away not DIE!
Talk to me guys. What did you love and hate? What/Who will you miss? Any early predictions for next season?

If only I had HBO and didn't live in a one horse town.
@Rain Maiden - My poor Jen. Although I'm sure there's more than one horse. ;-)
Well here I am a few days after the finale and I find I am still stunned over this finale.
I kind of knew too that Jesus was going to die but not at the hands of Lala omg that broke my heart as well as when he found out what happened poor guy (wait til he finds out about Tara omg)
I also was touched by Maxine and Sam's talk(though it was kind of funny with her mentioning he stole her clothes and even underpants LOL) I also hope Luna sticks around and Emma seems quite fond of Sam too.
OMG poor Jason LOL just trying for once to do what is right and he gets the crap beat out of him(I do find it interesting he didn't fight back either)
Do you think its foreshadowing with Zombies I mean that is the second time zombies had been mentioned this year and Arlene's comment "Zombies are the new vampires" um.
OMG I cracked up when they showed her daughter.
I honestly think Sookie needs to be alone for awhile to clear her head then start dating. My question is how is he going to feel when he finds out she killed Debbie?? I know he abjured her but still?
Holly was hilarious, loved that scene in the car.
Now I liked that scene I think it was not so much the witches that took care of marnie as the ghosts- Antonia's talk that stopped her. But what I don't get is how she didn't notice Holly walking around with salt.
Loved Gran coming back and how she just reached in and grabbed Marnie out of Lala(way to go Gran).
May I mention too love Gran and Sookie's talk and I think that is how she came up with her decision because Gran said its okay Sookie to be alone for awhile.
Eric's line about being crispy here was so funny.
I am on the fence with Rene not sure if he was genuine or not. Newlin though didn't see that coming and as a vampire rut row.
I loved that Jason got who Jessica is and they're convo was funny - I honestly believe Jason is going to fall for her badly.
ooh Pam I just wanted to hug her myself
I actually understood the break up- not sure if I like the way it was done - maybe done separately not together but I understand she needs to be alone for awhile then maybe choose. or maybe she won't choose either? Could that be a foreshadowing for Quinn to show up?
I got weird feelings about Terry's friend too um??
I wanna know who the wolf is too, Marcus was black but he is gone so could it be one of his pack members?
OH I can't wait for Russell to show up - who dug him up that is the big question I have theories but that is all.
I so can't believe Tara is dead, I didn't want her to die either - but is she dead?? or is she going to turn or ?? omg how dare they leave it like that LOL.
I loved this season though a few moments I was iffy on but overall it was a awesome end to great season.
Don't forget Bill's "I am not an f-ing puppy dog!"
I cracked up at that one and woke a kid up from my hysterical laughter.
My thoughts about the finale:
1. So sad about Jesus. I kind of liked his character. Can't wait to see what's going to happen with Lafayette and the demon.
2. Also thought the teen mom costume was HILARIOUS!
3. I thought maybe Sookie would defeat Marnie, or maybe even Lafayette would overpower her. Holly was not that powerful to begin with and Tara is not a witch, so not really sure that they did anything special. Not impressed with that scene, but I did like Eric's comment after about being crispy.
4. Steve Newlin back as a vampire is ironic, but I hope someone stakes him fast (preferably Jason). Steve's kind of annoying.
5. Can't wait to see the bond develop between Jess and Jason. Love them as a couple!
6. I hope they bring in Quinn as Sookie's love interest (like the books). Tiger = yummy!
7. Can't wait to see what role Russell plays next season.
8. Kind of sad Nan is gone. She was entertaining.
9. No way they kill off Tara. I'm sure Eric or Bill will sense Sookie's pain and come to the rescue.
Thanks for all your posts this season. Really enjoyed reading them!
@BLHmistress - I'm still kind of stunned too.
My heart definitely goes out to poor Lala.
*crosses fingers* that Luna will stick around for another season.
I kind of figured the situation with Jason and Hoyt was going to play out the way it did.
OMG...do you think they're going to bring zombies onto the show?!? No way! That's way too overboard.
I agree with you about Sookie. In the books he doesn't really get over it but, we'll see how the show decides to handle it.
That whole Marnie scene just didn't do it for me AT ALL.
Don't mess with Gran yo!
I can't figure out if Renee is trying to protect her or scare her. I still haven't figured out the whole Steve Newlin angle.
OMG I would fall off my damn couch if they brought Quinn on the show. I love that sexy Were Tiger!
Russell is going to cause some serious ruckus!
LOL! I was asking myself the same thing today. It would be her worst nightmare if she was turned.
@Teril - LOL! That was definitely a very funny line.
@Kim - Oh my gosh me too. Will he be able to control it?
LOL! That Eric is a funny vamp.
Yeah I think he's kind of annoying too. I'm still hoping he's just an apparition like Renee. Oh wait...he never died in the previous season, did he?
I love them as a couple too.
Tiger = very, very yummy!
Russell is going to bring it next season. I can feel it.
I wouldn't say sad but, it was definitely interesting having her on.
That's what I'm thinking but, I can't be sure. Where would her story arc go?
Awww thanks! Thank YOU for stopping by to read them. It means a lot!
I'm not so sure about Tara not being a witch. Magic was said to run in Lafayette's maternal family line and Tara is also from that line. She could be like Lafayette and simply be untrained.
I am soooo worried about Tara. Praying she'll either be turned or miraculously saved. Not ready to lose her too. Stupid HBO, getting me all attached, then drawing a blood bath. lol
A million thank yous for recapping the show each week! This blog wouldn't be the same without you and I will miss you bunches during the off season. I'm not above bribing you to make the occasional appearance:)
Quick thoughts:
*Flyboy and I both thought that Newlin was just pulling a trick or treat prank on Jason, and not a real vamp.
*Sad Pam makes me sad. Her character is extremely underused and I would like to see more of Pam and the Fangtasia gang.
*Bye Bye Nanners! You died an awesome death and I will miss your hardcore bitch attitude. Loved the stormtroopers comment and that Eric went vicious Viking on them.
*Sookie is a fool for turning down Alcide. He should have a bigger, and more naked, part in next season.
*No more Tara. Enough said.
*Poor Jesus. Saw it coming a mile away. Guess his powers weren't so badass after all, since an elderly ghost took Marnie down in 3 seconds flat.
*Why does TB rely on one main villian? By the end of the season you are just so relieved when they finally die and go away. I want them to go back to the season one formula, bring back the horror and sex. Good times! Lately it seems like everyone whines all the time. Maybe that's why they brought Russell's special brand of crazy back. I can only hope.
*I'm crossing my fingers that the Rene ghost means we will see more Arlene and Terry. The creepy friend of his is bad news, must be super bad if Rene is coming back to warn Arlene about it. Loved the costumes too! Especially the daughter. But I do not want zombies on my show. That's what The Walking Dead is for.
@Kalex - That's an interesting point. It's too bad we're going to have to wait and see. *sigh*
@Misusedinnocence - LMAO! I will say that I found her less abrasive this season. It would be like HBO to off her once I've gotten used to her.
@Anna - Awww! Thanks Anna! It's my pleasure to work with you on the blog and share the True Blood goodness with everyone. LOL! You know you don't have to bribe me. I already told you you're kind of stuck with me. =p
-Interesting. So you guys that him in the flesh? I'm still hoping he's an apparition.
-I agree 100%. She's enhances every scene she's in.
-LOL! She was pretty gangster.
-OMG from you mouth to Allan Ball's ears! Everyone chant it with me...ALCIDE! ALCIDE! ALCIDE!
-LOL....yeah....I still feel kind of bad that it went down like that.
-LMFAO! *snort* I can't believe you went there.
-I hadn't thought about that. Although can you imagine how bat shit crazy it would get if we had to deal with more than one villain. I am soooo looking forward to having Russell back.
-That would awesome. I have no idea what's up with that creepy ass dude. Hey maybe that means will get a shitload of bad guys next season. LOL! Agreed! October can't come fast enough!
