Review: You're the One That I Haunt by Terri Garey

Book description:
The devil went down to Georgia . . .
Nicki Styx has always known that the devil's in the details—but does he have to move in next door, too? Worse, he won't take no for an answer. Nicki would never leave her beloved boyfriend, ER doc Joe Bascombe, but hell hath no fury like a devil scorned. He's determined to make Nicki's life a living hell—even if it means exposing Nicki as an unwilling ghoulfriend to the dead.

Now, just when she was getting used to being able to see and hear—and help—spirits, Nicki's got a whole new set of problems. With ghosts descending from all sides, the bereaved knocking down her door, and Joe trying to take things to the next level, Nicki may finally be in over her head. It would be so easy to dance with the devil . . . but if Nicki crosses over to the dark side, she may never leave.

Jenny's review:
Ever had ghosts talk to you? Ever had one possess you and publically accuse your boyfriend of murder? Nicki Styx is finding out what this feels like.  Nicki has the power to talk with the dead, she was almost dead once but told to go back to Earth and do some good, so she tries to help them find peace with whatever they are hanging around for, but this ghost just won’t go away.  The Devil himself is trying to get Nicki to join him as his lover and the more she resists the harder he makes it for her.  He sends a crazy angry ghost to make her and her boyfriend’s life challenging,  he shows up in her thoughts and dreams to make her want him, and he is opening a record store across the street from her own vintage clothing store.  Can Nicki find a way to help Crystal, the ghost, find peace so that she will stop haunting her? Can she keep her boyfriend? And will the Devil ever leave her alone?
I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, fun and I guess you could say sort of a romantic comedy type read.  It had a couple being torn apart because of events surrounding them that they cannot control, and they have to fight for their relationship.  But the twist is that they are fighting the actual Devil, not to mention that there is also a maniac ghost in the picture.  The character of Nicki was interesting, being that she could see ghosts and she tried really hard to help them.  All in all a great read, something that isn't in my normal reading pattern, and come on... who wouldn’t want to read about the Devil trying to seduce someone by making their life a mess. Good times.
