Being Human: I Want You Back (From the Dead)

Last night was a total trip! It wasn't exactly a secret (anyone that saw the sneak peek trailer would know) that Rebecca was going to do something stupid, like turning a child into a vampire, because that's just how she is. In some regards I think she actually means well and just wants Aidan to stay with her, but her methods are completely whacked and unhealthy. She probably had issues (dependent, clingy, neurotic) as a human only we never saw them because she was turned before Aidan, or the viewing audience could figure it out. 

Anyhow...the whole kid vampire thing was disturbing and the twist with Marcus and Bishop was a total WTF moment for me. I did think that Aidan's binge was interesting and I'm not sure why he objects so much when it seems like the donors are well cared for and nobody seemed brainwashed or in that freaky minion state. I'm just sayin', vamps gotta eat and his stance seems extreme.

My difficulty with the entire episode was that I never understood why Bishop and Josh were blaming Aidan. And why he lets himself be guilted like that. The mess started with him but Rebecca crossed the line, and again, I just don't think that Josh is a very nice friend. Way too judgemental for me.

Poor Sally. Just when you think she might find some normalcy and peace with the ghostly deal things take another depressing turn. She meets an old friend from college that has also died tragically and they strike up a romance. Cute, right? Only then Sally decides that his death echo of reliving his drowning every day is not healthy and she tries to fix him. Guess what? He doesn't want to be a project and they decide to break up. Her reasons are sound but I feel like maybe she should take a moment and understand that a hot ghosty boyfriend might be hard to find, so maybe she should just drop the intensity a few notches and see what happens. Maybe that echo would disappear on its own or maybe they could find the light together.

I thought Josh was finally going to man-up but it seems that sadly and much to my dismay, he is still a wuss. I'm just not liking his indecision and constant stress mode. He's way too nervous! He strikes me as the guy that will never find happiness because he just doesn't think he deserves it. And that's sad because werewolves are people too. Hopefully things will work out for him and his girl.

Being Human: Children Shouldn't Play With Undead Things

Josh starts out the episode pining for Nora and reciting his usual litany of reasons why his life as a werewolf sucks (relationships are impossible, blah blah), and just when you think a hard kick in the ass is the only solution...POW! Nora stops to talk to him at the hospital, his wolfie personality doesn't want to play nice boy anymore and he ends up shagging her good and proper. Awe-some! Josh is a really nice guy and I like his bumbling behavior but it was also nice to see him in a grittier situation for a change. He needs to find some sort of balance with his inner wolf. Nora obviously wasn't too shocked by anything because she thinks they might have a thing and both decide to take it slow for awhile. We'll see how that goes.

Aidan displayed a softer side when he rescues a neighbor kid from being bullied and they become friends~ playing cards, watching movies, knocking a ball around etc. All that is ruined when the kid gets ahold of his vampire porn DVD and the mom goes crazy on Aidan. You could see it coming from a mile away, especially when Rebecca shows up at the park, but I still felt sorry for him when the idyllic bubble burst. And the Josh throws in his two sense about Aidan keeping the DVD. Poor Aidan.

Josh upset me the most because I thought they were in this being human thing together, and all he ever does is cast judgement on Aidan for struggling with his monster. Watching blood sex seems like a pretty minor offense considering that Aidan doesn't kill people and tries to drink bagged blood. At this point I'd have to say that Aidan and Josh need to have an honest discussion about what all this means.

Sally grew up a bit and thanks to Aidan she now has another avenue of ghostdom to explore. The hospital ghosts were creepy and sad so I'm hoping she doesn't spend much time there, but maybe she'll find some answers in that puzzle wall of scary ghost writing. I did like that she acknowledged the pity party and might move on from that...it gets old and she was staring to get super bratty (yelling when Josh was trying to talk to Nora, hollering at Aidan when the kid was over).

Being Human: I See Your True Colors...and That's Why I Hate You

Look, I finally found a few images that I can put on the blog! But overshadowing even that awesome announcement are all the glorious details from episode 7 of Being Human.

After Aidan explains the birds and the paranormal-bees to Josh about what happens when you fight with vampires, they decide that a little distance might be necessary, and Josh ends up taking Emily...home. And what a lovely dysfunctional home it is!  At times it was like That 70's Show meets The Munsters meets Intervention. Apparently Josh's parents have split up and everyone thinks he's crazy as a loon, which might happen in your house if a certain werewolf journal was stolen by a pesky sister and shared with the entire household. I knew I didn't like her!

So Aidan gets worried and follows Josh home, which results in a hilarious dinner scene where Aidan starts to vamp out because the chicken has garlic in it, Josh fumbles around trying to help, and Aidan gets an herbal tea bath. And how can we complain about our very sexy vampire in the tub?

Marcus shows up, a fight with Aidan ensues and ultimately Josh understands that he can't stay at home anymore. I felt sorry for him because he seems to have the hardest identity to hide and he obviously misses being around his goofy family.

And let's not forget about Sally. Boy, did she have a rough night! I have said from the beginning that Danny is an ass-hat psycho and last night was our first glimpse into his real personality. Long story short: Sally possesses Brigit's pen and conveys the idea that Danny killed her, Brigit confronts Danny at which point he whines and weeps about everything being a big accident, Brigit falls for it hook, line and sinker, and I think that Sally should totally have Aidan and Josh deal with him.

Thoughts? Ideas on how Aidan can torture Danny? And what do you think Bishop has planned for his happy vampire family?

Being Human recap: It Takes Two To Make a Thing Go Wrong

Monday night has a routine in my house: Watch Castle at 9pm followed by Being Human at 10pm. After a very long day spent driving (Sedona to Tucson with 2 kids and Flyboy) I was more than ready to wind down, relax and watch my shows. Castle gets my usual adoration, except when they escaped into a freezing storage room, because really, who does that?) but Being Human annoyed me, mostly because I am not loving the little sister. At all. And I might have to stop recapping the show because SyFy has a terrible website that doesn't even have her, the sister, listed in the cast. Dummies! I just don't have the time to hunt around for every single tidbit. Next week I will allow myself more time so the post will be more interesting...I hope.

In a nutshell:

*Aidan gets a vampy sex disc from Rebecca and has to hide how much he likes it from his roomies. Bishop hopes that Rebecca will be able to bring Aidan back to the clan. Rebecca confesses the master plan to Aidan but we are left to wonder if he can really trust her. My guess, probably not.

*After some cute confusion over wording Josh finally gets a date with Nora, the doctor that formerly thought he was nuts but has obviously changed her mind. Oddly enough he invites her back to his place. You know, the same place he shares with a vampire and a ghost. Not the wisest choice but it is nice that he wants to cook for her.

*Sally is being stalked by her engagement ring. To take her mind of of Danny she goes to a club with Aidan and Emily where she meets a poltergeist. Could this be an answer to her ghostly problems? Just torment Danny for all eternity? I'm guessing that she'll chill out before that happens.

Flyboy wants to see more from the character of Sally and doesn't enjoy her storyline. At the moment I am in agreement because the last couple of episodes have involved a lot of house shaking with very little to show for it. I'd like to see her find a way to warn Brigit, especially after the bruised arms.

Things to ponder:

*Did anybody else get irritated with Emily?
*Is Danny going to get what he deserves?
*Who trusts Rebecca?
*Will Josh finally get laid?
