True Blood Finale Recap & Highlights

Hello Bite Clubbers! I decided to do a straight run through of the episode as opposed to the character breakdown that I normally do. Hope you like the new format. Anywho, the moment we’ve all been waiting for and dreading has arrived. The True Blood Season 3 finale aired Sunday, September 12th and I’m sad to say I was left a little…disappointed. Maybe it’s just me though, so let’s get this recap underway…

Recap

The finale starts off with Eric and Russell handcuffed together and slowly frying to a crisp in the Fangtasia parking lot. They’re going back and force as to why Eric is trying to kill them both when he’s visited by Godric's spirit (yes, you read that right). Godric is pleading with Eric to forgive Russell and to let go of the hate he harbors. He’s not happy to hear what Godric is saying and lets loose a pretty savage scream. We then cut to Sookie running through a dark forest and stopping at a lit chandelier. She looks up at the chandelier and as it blurs out she wakes up to see Bill staring at her. She gets off the table and slaps him across the face and yells at him for betraying her. Bill defends himself and says it was the only way to save her from Russell. She looks around and asks where Eric is. Pam replies that he’s outside. Sookie runs off to go get him and is stopped by Bill. He says that it’s the only way they’ll be able to get rid of Russell. Sookie doesn’t want to hear it and pushes past him to get to Eric. She runs outside and is trying to figure out how to separate Eric from Russell. Russell tells her to use her powers. Sookie replies that she doesn’t know how. Russell then starts to taunt her. Apparently her power is linked to her emotions because he pisses her off to the point that she’s able to blast the handcuffs apart. Russell then commands her to drag him inside and she blasts him clear across the parking lot. She drags Eric back into the club and asks Bill to bite her wrist so that she can feed him. She tells Bill to keep an eye on Eric while he’s feeding on her so he doesn’t lose control.

We’re then taken to Sam’s trailer the morning after his hookup with Tara. Tara’s watching a televised war of words between Nan Flanagan and Steve Newlin and Sam’s making them breakfast. They’re having some light morning conversation when Tara brings up the fact that he barks in his sleep. Sam then informs her that he’s a shape shifter which leaves Tara stunned.

We cut back to Sookie feeding Eric. Bill pulls her hand away and heals the wound. Eric then asks where Russell is. Sookie tells him he’s outside. Eric tells them he needs to be brought back inside. Sookie asks why. He mentions that Godric visited him while he was outside and told him he needed to spare him. Bill tells him he’s crazy. Sookie can’t believe he wants to bring in the man that tried to kill them all and Pam says he should let him fry. Eric gets up and says that he’ll get Russell himself. He stares down Bill, Bill stares him down as well and they both bare fangs at each other. Sookie rolls her eyes and heads out to go get Russell. She runs outside, wraps a thick silver chain around Russell’s neck and drags him back inside.

We head back to Sam’s trailer, where Tara is looking at him like he’s grown a third head. She asks him if being a shape shifter is something he should mention before sleeping with someone. He apologizes for not telling her beforehand. She tells him that she’s not in the mood to deal with any more supernatural crap. Sam tries to point out that supes aren’t the only ones that have caused her trouble. Tara tells him that she wishes she could just reboot and be a completely new person with a new life. Sam says she’d be surprised how easy it would be for someone as smart as her to do it. Tara asks him about the old life and if it ever catches up to you. Sam says that it does but, that’s why you have to keep on moving.

We go back to Fangtasia where Eric is tying up Russell (who is hideously burnt to a crisp) to the stripper pole (ew?) and Sookie, Bill and Eric are telling him how crazy it is that he didn’t leave Russell outside to die. Eric tells Sookie to help him tie up Russell and as she approaches Russell turns his head like he wants to bite her. Sookie tells him not to even think about it and he responds by saying it’s the only thing he’ll ever think about again. Bill suggests that they head to ground and Eric agrees. Eric tells Sookie to watch Russell. She’s not happy about it but, Eric says that Russell can’t glamour her and that Ginger will be in shortly. Eric tells Pam to ready a guest coffin for Bill. Bill says that he’s going to stay with Sookie. Sookie tells him that she doesn’t want to see his face or any of their faces so he might as well leave. Before they head out Eric makes a phone call and then turns to Sookie and tells her not to stake Russell.

We’re taken to the police station where Andy is talking to the head DEA agent regarding the V his police department confiscated. Jason walks in and Andy asks him what he’s doing there. The DEA agent asks Andy who Jason is. Jason walks over to him and introduces himself as the deputy who cracked the case of the V ring in Hot Shot. When he asks the DEA agent when the raid is taking place Andy drags him back to his office. Andy starts ripping into to him about tipping off the people from Hot Shot. Jason tries to explain about the innocent people who live there. Andy isn’t convinced and wants Jason to give him one good reason why he should have the raid stopped. Jason says he promised he wouldn’t say anything. This infuriates Andy and he accidentally tells Jason that the raid is going down that same day. Jason runs off and Andy tells him he can forget ever being a cop if he screws the raid up.

We then see Tara heading out of Sam’s trailer. She stops and looks around for a second and is taken over by bad memories of things that have happened there like finding Miss Jeanette dead in her car, finding Eggs dead and Jason shooting Franklin. She’s overwhelmed and starts to cry.

We then find Hoyt driving into work and as he’s approaching his job he sees his mother, Summer and a man waiting for him. When he asks them what they’re doing there, his mother introduces him to the high school’s guidance counselor who then tells him that they are there to talk to him. They’re basically there to stage an intervention regarding his relationship with Jessica. Summer starts off by reading her letter. She’s then followed by his mother. Hoyt finally grows a pair and tells them that he loves Jessica and if they don’t like his relationship with her then they can’t be a part of his life. He wishes Summer well and heads off to start his job.

Sam heads out and notices Lafayette standing in front of the Merlotte’s. He mentions that he’s there early and Lafayette responds by saying that he wanted to head in early to start working on some stew but, left his house in such a rush that he forgot his keys. As Sam is trying to open up Lafayette has a strange vision of Sam’s hands covered in blood. It freaks him out but, he tries to maintain his composure so Sam doesn’t see him acting weird.

We head back to Fangtasia where Russell is trying to bargain with Sookie so that she’ll release him. He offers her money and the death of Eric and Bill. She then asks what she has to do in return. He says that she has to release him and she quickly refuses. He tells her that one day some vampire is going to rip her apart to get to the essence of her. She then tells him to shut up. Of course he doesn’t and keeps on rambling. He then brings up the fact that he’s surprised that Bill is able to control himself when he drinks her blood. He tries to keep on talking but, she blasts him in the face with Pam’s colloidal silver. This really ticks him off and he starts saying that she better hope that he dies because if he doesn’t he’s going to feed her entrails to something. However, before he can finish his sentence Sookie picks up his glass jar o’ Talbot which quickly shuts him up. She asks him why he’s carrying it around. He says because he loved him. Sookie puts two and two together and calls him out on his plan to use her blood to try to bring him back to life. She then walks over to the sink and dumps Talbot’s remains down the drain. As Russell screams Sookie starts to laugh.

Jason and Crystal head over to Hot Shot to try and warn everyone about the raid. Calvin steps out and tells them he wants them out of there. Jason warns them that the DEA is on their way. Calvin puts everyone into action and tells Jason that this doesn’t change anything between them. Jason says that he thinks it should since he’s out there trying to help his family. Calvin tells him that they don’t need his help. As he’s barking orders to his people to start getting rid of stuff, Felton comes out of nowhere and blasts a shot into the air. He tells Calvin not to get rid of the V because there’s a lot of money to be made off of it. Calvin accuses him of being strung out on V. Felton proceeds to shoot Calvin in the face (IN THE FACE PEOPLE).

We then go back to Sam who’s driving to the rental to look for Tommy. He stops in front of Arlene and Terry’s place because he sees Terry sitting on his porch crying. He walks over to him to apologize and then heads over to the rental Tommy’s been using. He finds the place trashed but, doesn’t see any signs of Tommy.

We head back to the police station where the DEA agents are starting to head out to conduct the raid on Hot Shot. Andy wants to tag along but, the head DEA agent suggests that he stay behind and get him a pack of cigarettes.  We then go back to Hot Shot where crazy Felton is threatening everyone including Jason. He then tells Jason to say bye to Crystal because he’s leaving with her and the V. Crystal then tells him that she needs to leave with Felton. She asks him to take care of the people in Hot Shot. He promises her that he’ll find her and not to worry about her people and to stay safe. Felton takes off with Crystal, the V and his truck. He then turns around and introduces himself to the residents of Hot Shot.

Next we see Tara pulling into her mother’s driveway. When she walks in she finds her mother and the preacher doing stuff that they shouldn’t be doing, if you know what I mean. Tara storms out of the house and her mother tells her not to walk off. Tara asks her if the preacher’s wife and kids know that they’re seeing each other. Her mother tries to explain to her that they’re in love and that he’s leaving them for her. Her mother says that he just needs some time. Instead of getting all hysterical about it like she normally would she wishes her mother luck and takes off.

We flash back to Sam walking into Merlotte’s. He walks into his office and realizes that his safe is missing. Inside the restaurant Arlene stops by the kitchen window to pick up food for one of her tables. While she’s talking to Lafayette he has another one of his visions. He sees Rene wrapping his hands around Arlene’s neck and this time he freaks out. We look back in on Sam as he’s grabbing his gun and heading out of his office. As he’s walking out of the bar he passes Lafayette who’s on the phone with Jesus explaining all the crazy visions he’s having. He asks Jesus to come over as soon as he can.

Back we go to Fangtasia where we find out that the gorgeous Alcide was the one that Eric called earlier in the episode. Sookie thinks that he’s there for her but, finds out that he’s there to help Eric. He’s very sweet with her and they catch up while the vamps wake up. Eric and the rest of the vamps walk in and get to work. Eric grabs Russell’s chains and drags him to Alcide’s truck. Bill tells Sookie to stay with Pam. Sookie says she can take care of herself and starts to walk off. Before she does she rescinds all of the vamps invitations to her house.

We head back to the police station where Jason is hauled in by the head DEA agent for tipping off the residents of Hot Shot. Jason explains that Felton is to blame and that he took off in his truck. Andy then thanks him for messing up the case and for telling Tara about Eggs. Jason says that he knows he did the right thing.

Jesus finally makes it to Merlotte’s and gives Lafayette a huge hug. Lafayette starts talking and getting hysterical. Jesus tries to calm him down by saying that the same thing happened to him when they taught him magic. Lafayette is taken aback by what he’s saying. Jesus confesses he’s a brujo (which is the Spanish word for witch). Lafayette seems to be calmed by this knowledge which is weird cause I would’ve thought that it would’ve made him angrier. But what do I know about these things.

We head over to Sookie’s house where Tara is fiddling with some scissors. At first it appears she’s contemplating suicide but, she ends up giving herself a haircut. She then heads downstairs to greet Sookie who likes the change. They sit down to have some dinner and talk. They apologize to each other and then Tara tells Sookie she's heading off to Merlotte’s to talk to Lafayette. It almost seems like she’s saying her good bye to Sookie. She heads over to Merlotte’s but, she doesn’t get off the car. She merely looks up at the sign and the crowd inside, smiles and drives off.

We then see Alcide dropping Eric and Bill off at a construction site. He tells Eric that his father’s debt is paid off and not to bother his family again. They walk over to a pit filling up with cement and see that Russell is lying at the bottom of it. Eric explains that he wants to make sure that he can’t find peace. Godric reappears and insists that even someone like Russell deserves peace. Eric yells at him and continues with his plan to bury Russell alive. Once Russell is buried Bill reaches out to shake Eric’s hand. When Eric grabs his hand Bill handcuffs him and throws him into another pit and begins to bury him alive as well. He then makes a phone call disguised as Eric and sends someone to kill Pam. (Holy Wow….I DID NOT see that one coming).

We finally get to meet up with Jessica who has been blindfolded by Hoyt for a surprise he’s planning. He walks her into a house and takes off her blindfold. She looks around and gets all kinds of excited. She asks him if they can paint it and he says yes. He also says that the first thing he wants to do is build her a tricked out hidey hole. She turns to him shocked and asks him if he wants them to live together? He then replies that he wants to marry her. (Awww….I love these two!) The only creepy thing is that there’s a doll thrown on the floor in one of the bedrooms. Does anyone else have a sense of foreboding? We go from there to a scene of Hoyt’s mother inside what looks to be a hunting supply store. She picks up a rifle, checks it out and then heads over to the cashier to pay for it. I’m telling you right now. If she so much as touches a hair on Jessica’s head I’m going to be seriously ticked off.

We head back to Sookie’s house where Sookie receives a visit from Bill. She invites him in and he tells her that both Russell and Eric are gone. He explains his reasons for doing it and promises to get rid of everyone who knows what she is. He tells her that he has never loved or will ever love anyone the way that he loves her. He heads for the door and when he opens it they find Eric walking up the front steps. Eric proceeds to drop the truth on Sookie. The first being that Bill was sent to procure Sookie for the Queen and the second being that he let the Rattrays beat her to within an inch of her life so that he could feed her his blood. Needless to say Sookie is extremely angry and hurt. She throws him out of her house and then proceeds to tell off Eric while she’s at it.

Eric heads back to Fangtasia where Pam asks if he killed Bill. He says he left him with a far greater punishment. She then informs him that she killed the assassin that was sent to kill her.

Sam finally catches up with Tommy. Tommy tries to run from him but, stops when Sam fires his gun in the air. Tommy tries to pull the whole bleeding heart routine on him and Sam is not buying it. He tells him that he wants his money back. Tommy doesn’t take him seriously and starts to walk away with the money. The scene ends with Sam pointing his gun and firing off a shot. Does he or doesn’t he?

Bill invites the Queen over to his house. The Queen thinks that he has brought her Sookie. Unfortunately, for her the real reason that Bill has invited her over is to challenge her. And then what I can only describe as the True Blood version of the Matrix goes down. Both vamps lift into the air and charge each other. Seriously HBO?! You couldn’t come up with something more creative?

Sookie runs out of her house and heads to her grandmother’s grave. The poor thing is crying her eyes out when Claudine appears out of thin air. She reaches out for Sookie and asks her to come with her. As fairies start pouring out of the cemetery, Sookie starts to walk toward Claudine. When she reaches her, everyone, including Sookie and Claudine, vanish. No, I’m not making this up. They seriously disappear into thin air. Yeah, I don’t get it either.

Highlights

I still can’t believe we have to wait 9 whole months for Season 4! *shakes fist at HBO* A big thank you to Anna as well for giving me the opportunity to take over the blog once a week.

True Blood - Episode 11 Recap & Highlights

Well Bite Clubbers, this is it. The last episode before the season finale. I especially liked how HBO timed it so that we’d have to wait until September 12th for the last episode. *shakes fist* I’ll be honest. I thought this episode would be more action packed. I’m guessing they’re saving the big kid fireworks for the last show. Hmph! Let’s get this recap started shall we?

Sookie/Bill

Bill senses Sookie in trouble and heads to Fangtasia to find her. He’s met by Pam and after exchanging a few unpleasantries starts fighting her to try to get to Sookie. Meanwhile, Sookie is sitting around waiting for an opportunity to free herself when she sees Yvetta coming down the basement steps. Yvetta ends up helping Sookie out of her chains and Sookie grabs a silver chain to bind Pam, who is macing the hell out of Bill with silver infused water. Yvetta binds Pam while Sookie finds out why Eric threw her in the basement. They find out that Sookie is suppose to be an offering to Russell. Bill and Sookie take off and as they’re driving to safety they get into a conversation about why Sookie went back to see Eric. Bill wants to know if she has feelings for him and Sookie kinda sorta denies it. They start talking about a future together and rebuilding their relationship when out pops Eric and Russell. They literally make the car come to a standstill and drag both Sookie and Bill back to Fangtasia. As Russell is walking in Sookie, Eric tells Bill to pick a fight with him. They start brawling in the parking lot and Russell continues to walk Sookie into the bar. Eric then has a chance to tell Bill what the plan is. Bill gets tied up to a chair and Eric tells Russell that Sookie is a fairy and that her blood will let him walk in daylight. Bill agrees and Sookie is beyond devastated that she’s being betrayed by Bill and Eric. Russell takes the bait but, will only do it if Eric goes outside first. She starts to protest and insult them all but her tirade is short lived because Russell grabs her arm and starts to drink from her. Eric joins Russell until they have enough to allow them to walk into the light, so to speak. When they head outside Bill begs Pam to let him loose so that he can give Sookie his blood. Pam is ignoring him and watching what’s going on outside through the security cameras. Will Bill be able to help Sookie before she goes into another fairy utopia coma? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Jessica

After Jess rescues Hoyt from Tommy they head back to Jessica’s house. We find them making out on the couch like a bunch of high schoolers. Jessica stops him and tells him about the trucker she accidentally killed. She wants him to know who she really is and what she’s capable of. It almost looks like Hoyt is going to get up and walk out but, he ends up pulling down the zipper on his hoodie and offering himself to her. It’s totally dorky but, super sweet at the same time. Jess trails kisses up his stomach and helps herself to the vein in his neck.

Sam

Talk about a character going on a total downward spiral. It’s kind of like a train wreck. You don’t want to look but, you can’t look away. Sam heads into the bar drunk as a skunk and manages to insult Terry, Arlene and Holly in a span of 30 seconds. They walk out and since he’s now waitressless (not a word but kinda of fun to say, no?) he’s forced to serve food and drinks. He asks Tommy to help and ends up having it out with him (which he totally deserved for being a smart mouthed pain in the rear) and ends up firing him and throwing him out of the rental house. He then goes back into the bar and ends up throwing out all of the customers. He tries throwing out Tara but, Tara is not having it. She stays put and tries to figure out why his boxers are in a bunch. After a ‘no one respects me’ and a ‘everyone’s scared of me’ conversation they head back to Sam’s trailer to bump uglies. While they’re getting it on, Tommy cuts the wire to the alarm and is seen trying to crack open Merlotte’s safe.

Jason

After watching Crystal shift from a panther to her human form it’s safe to say he’s more than a little freaked out. To his credit he really is trying to keep it together. She sits down to talk to him and explain what she is and the poor guy is overwhelmed. In an effort to clear his head he walks out of his house and tells her that he’s going to look for Sookie. He has no luck and ends up parked in front of the high school football stadium. He hears people practicing and decides to take a look. He ends up discovering that the star quarterback (I think his name is Kitch) who is about beat his record is taking V to enhance his performance. When Jason says he’s going to turn him in he finds out that the coach is the one that supplies him, the principal uses it and that his parents pay for it. This leaves Jason floored. At first I wasn’t sure why this scene is important but, I think it makes him realize that nothing is what it appears and it helps him accept Crystal’s nature. He heads back home and tells Crystal that he doesn’t care what she is and that he loves her and wants to be with her. There’s no chance for some makeup horizontal mambo because Crystal informs him that she wants to stop the Hot Shot raid. He tells her there’s no way they’re going to be able to stop it and she tells him that’s she’s going with or without him. I wonder how that’s going to go down in the final episode.

Tara

After finding out the truth about Eggs from Jason, Tara runs out of his house and heads over to the cemetery to visit Eggs. After crying over his grave she heads over to Merlotte’s. She finds Andy at one of the booths and slides into the seat in front of him. Andy finds it unusual but, tries to make small talk anyway. She interrupts him mid-sentence and tells him that she knows about Eggs. The color drains out of his face. Tara starts laying into him and giving him a hard time and Andy breaks down. He tells her his version of the events and I think Tara starts to comprehend that what happened was an accident and that neither Jason nor Andy meant to hurt him. She leaves Andy and heads to the bar to knock back a few shots.

Eric

After throwing Sookie into the basement, Eric leaves to look for Russell. He finds him in a museum and they have a talk about why Eric killed Talbot. Eric is under the impression that they’re now even. He’s seriously confused and Russell’s ready to settle the score with Eric. Eric plays into his need for world domination and tells Russell that he can offer him the sun (aka day walking). He then tells him there’s a way in can be done. This piques Russell’s interest. During their conversation, Pam calls Eric and tells him that Sookie and Bill have escaped. They find them and drag them back to the club. Before Eric feeds from Sookie Pam has a change of heart and doesn’t want him to do it. She actually starts to get a little emotional and Eric tells her loves her more when she’s cold and heartless. I think it’s meant to be a compliment. They feed on Sookie as Bill watches from his chair prison. Eric walks out of the club first and Russell breaks down when he sees that it is possible to walk in the daylight again. He heads outside to join Eric only to learn that the effects of Sookie’s blood wear off and that they still burn up in sunlight. Eric handcuffs Russell to him and forces him to stay out in the sunlight. I’m not sure how Eric is going to survive but, it’s clear that he intends to kill Russell even if it means he has to die in the process.

I normally love me some Arlene but, I think she’s overreacting with the whole evil baby thing. (That conversation she has with her mother in the woods is pretty funny though).

True Blood Update

True Blood - Episode 10 Recap & Highlights

Hi Bite Clubbers. Sorry this post was delayed. So it looks like we had a bunch of stuff going on in this episode. Let’s take a look see….

Sookie/Bill

Dum dum dum…we finally find out that Sookie is a fairy. Much to what appears to be her dismay. Bill fills her in on what he knows and about meeting Claudine in the garden utopia. He also warns her that people are going to be after her because the supes believe that the fairies were wiped out by the vamps. Sookie wants to know why everyone thinks the fairies are extinct. Bill tells her that fairy blood is very intoxicating and delectable to vampires. She asks him if his feelings for her are based on her blood. He assures her that they’re not. And so begins Bill trying to convince Sookie that he’s in love with her and not her blood. He evens vows not to drink her blood if that is what it takes to convince her. It’s really very sweet. For some reason Stevie Wonder’s You Are the Sunshine of My Life was playing in my head while I was watching this scene. Tara and Jason come in and while Jason’s outside with Bill Sookie grills Tara about what her problem is. Tara lets loose everything that happened to her while she was stuck with Franklin. Sookie finally understands why she’s acting the way she is and gives her a hug to console her. Sookie falls asleep and ends up having a dream featuring Eric. Calm down everyone…no clothes were shed in the making of this scene. However, there is some kissing and a message of sorts. Sookie asks why she keeps dreaming about him and he tells her that she has feelings for him. He also says that she knows she can’t trust Bill. He says that’s not his blood talking, it’s her survival instinct kicking in. He then bites into her neck and she wakes up. She then takes off and heads to Fangtasia to confront Eric. She wants to know why she’s not going to see him anymore. He then brings up the subject of trusting Bill. She wants to know why. He tells her that they’re forces beyond his control and that if he met the true death without having kissed her it would be his biggest regret. She asks him why it sounds like he’s saying good bye. And he says because he is. And then BAM they’re totally making out. Fully dressed of course but, still full on making out. She pulls away and asks him why she can’t trust Bill. Unfortunately for her Pam walks in and interrupts their little heart to heart by telling Eric there’s a vampire emergency. Sookie’s left standing there without an answer. And then it all heads south. Eric walks in, throws her over his shoulder and locks her up in Fangtasia’s basement. She is NOT a happy camper.

Jessica

Jess and Tommy are scrubbing floors while Arlene is watching our favorite preacher man, Steve Newlin, go on and on about the vamps. Arlene makes a smart comment and Jessica pushes her up against the wall and gives her an earful. Arlene runs off with her tale between her legs and Jess starts to feel bad about what she did. Tommy tells her that she shouldn’t feel bad and starts hitting on her by complimenting her fangs. (Um, this little scene gave me the willies because I think Tommy’s kind of creepy). They get on the topic of Hoyt and Tommy asks her why she’s not with him. She says it’s because he’s too good for her. And Sam’s creepy little brother says that he’s not. This makes Jessica mad and she walks off. Jess wakes up the next night to find a burning cross in her front lawn. She runs outside to see if she can catch who did it and is joined by Bill on the front porch. She wants to chase after the people but, Bill stops her and explains that now is the time to hold back even if it’s against their nature. That night at the bar Hoyt comes in and tells her that he’s broken up with Summer because he wants to be with her. She tries to convince him that he wouldn’t like some of the things she’s done. He says that if she can look him in the eye and tell him she doesn’t love him he’ll leave her alone. She doesn’t say anything and he walks out of the bar. Tommy takes the opportunity to walk outside and taunt him. Hoyt ends up punching him in the mouth. (Go Hoyt!) Tommy ends up shifting into a pit and attacks Hoyt. Jessica goes outside to follow him and sees he’s being attacked. She comes to his rescue by tossing Tommy off of him. He’s badly hurt and she tries to give him her blood. He refuses. She looks him in the eye and tells him she loves him and tells him he has to drink and he does. How creepy is it that Tommy’s spying on them?

Sam

Sam heads back to the trailer to drown his sorrows. The more sips he takes the more voices start floating around in his head. And then BAM! We’re takin’ back to a flashback dated 2003. A slick haired, suit wearing Sam pushes in through the door of a motel room with a blonde floozy type. He throws a briefcase onto the bed and pulls out two black velvet bags filled with expensive jewelry. Sam a jewel thief, um, yeah sure HBO. Anyway his girl gets all hot and bothered and he puts her up against a wall where they start to make out when some random greasy haired dude sneaks up on him and points a gun to his head. Turns out blondie set him up and they take off with his loot. We flashback to the present where we find Sam getting drunker and angrier by the second. Sam heads back into work the next morning or afternoon. Terry walks in and stares at the floor while heading to the back room. Sam starts to realize that everyone is uncomfortable around him after what happened at the bar. He talks to them and assures them that he’s not crazy. Sam heads off into the woods that night to drink his sorrows away and we’re shown another flashback where he ends up going back to get the money that was stolen from him. Craziness goes down and Sam accidentally kills his girlfriend and then intentionally kills her boyfriend. O_o I‘m a little scared of Mafioso Sam.

Jason/Tara

Jason has just obliterated Franklin and starts having gnarly flashbacks of when he accidentally killed Eggs and when Amy staked Eddie. Tara takes a second to snap out of it and starts giving Jason orders. They cover Franklin’s blood puddle with dirt and throw his clothes (or what’s left of them anyway) into the back of Jason’s truck and take off. They head back to Jason’s house and find Sookie and Bill there. Sookie asks him if she can stay a few days since she’s got a werewolf and vamp problem. Tara starts to get all snarky with Bill and he tells Sookie that it’ll be dawn soon and that he should head to ground. He motions Jason to go with him and Jason follows. Bill makes Jason promise to protect his sister. Next morning he’s talking to Sookie about Franklin and Sookie tries to convince him that he did the right thing. Jason then confesses to Sookie about what happened with Eggs. She wants him to tell Tara the truth but, he’s scared that he’ll hurt her even more if he does. Jason makes breakfast for Tara and while dropping the tray off he starts to try to tell her about Eggs but, is cut off by her thanking him for saving her. She goes on to tell him how she’s grateful that he gets her and so on and he ends up losing his nerve to reveal the truth. And then it takes a turn into left field. Tara gives him a pop kiss and then ends up kind of making out with him. Jason pulls away and Tara feels bad and gets up to walk off. Jason stops her and finally confesses that he shot Eggs. Tara who just went from bad to worse runs out of the house. Jason stops at the door and realizes Sookie’s gone. He finds a note from her saying she’ll be back soon. Oh Jason…it’s not for lack of trying. He heads back home after searching for her and Bill comes in demanding to know where she is. Bill goes on to say that he’s let him down. Jason at that point has had enough and revokes Bill’s invitation to his house. He then hears someone in his room. When he walks in he sees a panther in the middle of his bedroom floor. And then right before his very eyes the panther shifts into Crystal. Uh, yeah he’s pretty stupefied at this point.

Eric

We find Eric giving his last will and testament to an attorney type while Pam is pacing the floor behind him. Pam keeps throwing out remarks about why he’s doing this and why he’s giving up. He turns around and rather angrily tells her that unless she has a way to defeat Russell she needs to stop distracting him. You know you’re in dire straits when you’re asking one of your club dancers to be a witness to you executing your will. Eric makes a guest appearance at Jason’s house where Sookie and Bill are hiding out. Never one to miss an opportunity to put a surprised look on Bill’s face, he tells him that he knows what she is. He also questions him about her blood and if it gives him the ability to walk in the sun. Eric tells him about Russell coming after Sookie and what happened with Talbot. Bill starts to lay into him and thanks him for putting them back a thousand years. They then get into a little fight about telling the truth when Sookie finds them and joins in on the conversation. She has some rather harsh words for Eric and he responds by telling them that they won’t have to worry about him much longer. He wishes her well and takes off. During his meeting with Sookie the next night, Pam interrupts and has him step out of his office into the bar. She then tears him a new one for not using Sookie to save himself. Pam then realizes that he’s putting a human before himself. She then hits a nerve when she says that he would have done or said anything to save Godric. She tells him to find a way to use her and fast.

Highlights

Lafayette and Jesus trying to save Calvin

I can’t believe the guy was so ungrateful after they saved his life.

Dude, how sweet is Terry?! I got a little misty eyed.

Lafayette and Jesus’ V trip
I know there might be some of you who’ll dislike that particular scene but, I thought the effects and the cinematography were pretty cool. And I like that they’re involving Jesus and Lafayette in what looks like an interesting story line as opposed to a bunch of fluff.

Lowlights

Calvin and Crystal

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a lowlight but, it’s definitely a messed up family dynamic. I really don’t like how they’re portraying Calvin.

Hoyt and Summer

Does anyone else thinks this girl is a total fruit loop? I don’t like that she’s trying to come between Jess and her man. Git 'er Jess!

Russell

Wow…he’s totally bat sh*t crazy. Normally this would be a highlight but it’s taken a turn into freaky town and I’m not liking the trip.

True Blood - Episode 9 Recap & Highlights

Hello Bite Clubbers. Welcome back to our regularly scheduled True Blood post. Feels good to get back to normal. So tonight’s episode wasn’t as insane as the last one but, it was still good nonetheless. I don’t know that my nerves could’ve handle another show like the one we had last week. So let’s get on to the good stuff.

Sookie

Sookie’s in the shower cleaning up after her semi-MMA fight with Debbie and her makeup sex with Bill, when Bill steps in and joins her. He tenderly heals her wounds and they enjoy a little more makeup lovemaking. She heads downstairs and discovers the body of the one of the werewolves Bill and Jessica killed. He walks in and together they clean up the mess. They get into a conversation about the file he’s been keeping on her which then turns into a conversation about trusting one another. The next morning Sookie’s looking through an album with newspaper clippings when she gets a call from Hadley. Hadley says she’s at the aquarium and has someone she’d like her to meet. Sookie (who apparently can teleport from Bon Temps to Monroe) finds Hadley and the person Hadley wants her to meet ends up being her son Hunter. She tells Sookie about her relationship with Sophie-Anne and that she ended up telling Sophie-Anne about her abilities. She’s tells her she’s worried because Russell also knows about her abilities and that her and Sookie and in serious danger. She also wants Sookie to help her find out if Hunter has the same abilities she does. Sookie asks Hunter to come sit with her and sure enough he’s also telepathic like her. (But we knew that was going to happen, right?). Bill stops by Sookie’s house and Sookie starts telling him about Hadley and the Queen and King and he says he thinks he knows why they’re after her. (See below for more details). Naturally, they ended the episode so we’ll find out what Sookie is next Sunday.

Bill

And just when you thought we weren’t going to have to revisit the Fairy Garden Utopia, BAM, we’re taken back via Bill’s subconscious. (Which in and of itself is bizarre and since when do vampires dream?). Anyway I digress, Bill ends up in Fairy Land and meets Claudine, who is shocked by his presence in her territory. She tries to run away but he catches up to her. His fangs drop and he’s about to take a bite when she hits him with her fairy blast and knocks him back across the garden. She accuses him of killing Sookie and he swears that he hasn’t and the he loves her and never would. He asks what she is and she refuses to tell him. He tells her that Sookie has the right to know so that she can defend herself.

Jessica

Jessica heads into work and the first customers she gets to seat are Hoyt and his new girlfriend. Needless to say she’s not happy. Hoyt tries to be nice and introduce his girlfriend but Jessica cuts him off so that she can take them to their table. After a little bit of a tantrum she tries to play nice and when Hoyt introduces Summer her fangs accidentally drop down. Jessica heads back to apologize to Hoyt and they end up getting into a really funny conversation about how he can’t stand his girlfriend. She asks him why’s he’s with her if he hates her so much. He responds by saying that it beats sitting around thinking about her. Poor thing gets all emotional and runs off.

Tara

The morning after talking with Sam, Tara attends a meeting for rape survivors. She sees Holly, the new Merlotte’s waitress, there and starts to get nervous. Holly insists that she stay. Holly starts off the session and tells her story. As she describes what happened and how she’s learning to deal with it we see Tara start to become affected by what Holly is saying and she begins to cry. That night at Merlotte’s, Tara notices Jesus at the restaurant and heads over to Lafayette to get confirmation about them dating. She starts to lay into him but, stops and tells him she’s happy for him. After helping Jesus and Lafayette load an injured Calvin into an SUV, she watches them ride off. She starts to make her way into the bar and friggin’ FRANKLIN comes up and drags her off behind the building. (C’mon now…you all didn’t think he was dead, did you?). Poor Tara is terrified but, she stands up to him. He doesn’t like this one bit and grabs her by the throat. As her breathing becomes labored, Jason comes to her rescue, points a shotgun at Franklin and tells him to let her go. Being his usual charming self, Franklin tells Jason that he’s a vampire and that it doesn’t matter how many times he shoots him, nothing’s going to happen. Jason cocks his shotgun, shoots him and he explodes. Gotta love wooden bullets.

Sam

Sam is with Tara in his trailer talking about her recent ordeal when he gets a call from Terry complaining about the noise his little brother is making. Sam hangs up and asks Tara if she wants to come with him. She waves him off and he heads out the door. Sam walks into the apartment and finds a very naked Tommy with his half naked date. Tommy cops an attitude with him right off the bat. Sam tells him that he doesn’t care how he entertains himself but, that he can’t disturb the neighbors while their trying to sleep. After another smart remark from Tommy, he heads back home. The next day Arlene and Tommy get into an argument because Arlene accuses Tommy of stealing her tip money. Tommy is a complete jerk about it and Sam tells him he’s going to take it out of his salary. Tommy gets mad and insults Sam by telling him that he lets people walk all over him. Calvin walks into the bar and finds Crystal talking to Jason. Jason challenges Calvin to meet him outside. Sam steps out from behind the bar and gets in Calvin’s face. Calvin mouths of and Sam loses his cool. He starts to serve up a serious beat down. Crystal tells him to stop and he shoves her out of the way. Sam keeps at him until he loses consciousness. Everyone at the bar is stunned. Hoyt and Jason finally pull him off. Jesus and Lafayette load him up into a car and head to the hospital. Crystal tells them to stop so she can go with them. Jason tries to prevent her from going but, she takes off anyway.

Jason

Jason comes home to find Crystal yelling at someone. When he walks in he finds Felton screaming at Crystal. He accuses Jason of kidnapping her and Jason tells him that she came of her own free will. Things get crazier when Crystal accuses Jason of raping her. Felton attacks him and while he’s distracted Crystal knocks him unconscious. They take him out to the middle of nowhere and Crystal hog ties him. Jason calls the cops to let them know he’s there and they take off. Jason and Crystal walk into the station the next morning and find out that Kevin was attacked after responding to a distress call. Turns out he was the one who went to check out Jason’s call and was almost killed as a result. As Crystal sits down to console the receptionist, Kenya walks out with the drug dealer they arrested in Hot Shot a few episodes back. He spots Crystal and gives her a smirk. Meanwhile, Jason heads back to see Andy and asks if there was any V found on the scene. Andy tells him that Kenya put it into evidence. Jason then says that he has sources that say the guys who run the meth lab are also selling V and that if they can connect the V found at the scene with the V they’re selling in Hot Shot they could raid the meth lab in Hot Shot again. Andy looks very interested in this theory and starts taking notes. Andy then says that if they connect the V that he’ll bring in the FBI, DEA and crap load of other agencies into the fold to bring them down. Later that night he tells Crystal about his brilliant plan and she starts to freak out. She begs him not to send law enforcement out there. Jason is baffled by her response.

Eric

Looks like our boy Eric is in a bit of trouble. After offing Talbot, Eric heads back to Fangtasia. After filling Pam in on what happened he tells her they need sanctuary. Ginger walks in and they ask her where she lives. She asks if it’s because of the V feds. Eric and Pam look at each other and walk out to the bar where they’re joined by Nan Flanagan and her vampire SAWT team. She’s more than a little pissed with Eric for having to clean up his mess. Eric tries to pull one over on her and tells her there’s nothing wrong with his area. Obviously not amused she asks one of her guards to silver him. After searching the bar Nan tells him they’ve found nothing, except for the fact that that basement is as sterile as an operating room. Nan then has some of her SWAT members bring in web cams so that they can get Eric’s statement regarding the disappearance of the Magister. Sitting on the other end of the web cams is the Authority. Eric goes into some history about werewolves fueled by vampire blood and brings up Russell Edgington. He relays to them that Russell is not interested in co-existing with humans and delivers them Russell’s ‘f*ck the authority’ message. He tells them that Russell killed the Magister because the Magister defied him. When Nan asks why he didn’t come forth sooner he launches into a story about Russell massacring his family. He tells the Authority that he did not come forward because he’s waited 1,000 years to kill Russell. The interview ends with Nan informing Eric that she didn’t fly out of her way to listen to a bunch of bullsh*t and that it’s odd that the same man who wants to bring down the AVL just donated a half a million dollars to the organization. Nan then puts him and Pam on lock down until the Authority makes a ruling in his case. The next evening Pam wakes up to find Eric at his desk. She asks him why he never shared his family history with her and he replies by saying that the burden was his alone to carry. He tells her that if he can’t go on then she must make a new vampire. He says it’s her time to be a maker. Later that evening Nan shows up with her vamp SWAT team and we see Russell keeping an eye on the club. He thinks the AVL is protecting Eric and vows to a jar full of Talbot to get revenge on them. Nan walks into the club to deliver the Authority’s ruling. In a nutshell, Eric gets permission to seek out his revenge. Oh happy day! On a side note, while Nan’s heading back to whatever it is she does, Russell, our favorite crazy vampire, interrupts a news report by ripping out the reporters spine and basically AVL look like a bunch of liars. The guy is flippin’ insane. And I love it.

Highlights

Lafayette and Jesus

From the floral robe that Jesus borrows from Lafayette to the sweet smile Lafayette wears the next day, I like everything about this new relationship. If only I didn’t have that nagging feeling that something was up with Jesus I’d be one very happy camper.

The King

Wow, Denis O’Hare plays a great crazy vampire doesn’t he. He put one hell of a performance tonight.

Arlene getting more screen time

Poor Arlene. I’m glad we got to see more of her even though she was all kinds of upset and depressed.
