Monday at the Movies:

This week isn't the usual summary and quotes because I have a movie question for you instead. As I cruise the internet looking for paranormal movies it becomes apparent that the ghost category is all over the place. We have the kid friendly fun like Casper, the thrillers like Sixth Sense, and scary titles like The Ring. And that doesn't even figure in the recent popularity explosion of "real" ghost stories.

So my question is: What type of ghost stories do you like? What are some of your favorite ghostly themed movies? I'm not just being nosey, really...I'm compiling a list for the Monday posts.

And in totally unrelated news...Kerrelyn Sparks is over at VampChix today talking shifters, giving away a book, and promoting her upcoming release, Vampire Mine, which I am super excited about. I mean seriously, look at this awesome cover (psst, the inside is even better)!

Joy Division

VampChix had Derek Tatum, of Mondo Vampire fame, over on Wednesday (original post can be found here) to discuss vampire music and one of his selections was a song from the band Joy Division, called Day of the Lords. I hadn't heard of them before, shame on me, but in a weird coincidence I happened across a Playmobile video set to one of their songs when I cruised around one of my favorite sites, The Awl.

Take a look:

This is a different song than the one Derek chose but I thought it was funny and I liked the sound. Turns out that Joy Division started jamming in the 70's, which means that I should have heard of them by now but my head has been jammed under a rock, and they have a dark, gritty sound that I totally love. My thanks to Derek for turning me on to the band!

Check out this vid that I found for Day of the Lords:

Side read: My Love Eternal by Liz Strange

Our side read selection this month is the debut novel My Love Eternal, book 1 in the Dark Kiss Trilogy, by Liz Strange.

Description:

Blood, sex and eternal life… What more could a girl ask for?

Tall, dark, and sexy, as well as fabulously wealthy, Giovanni is everything a girl could ask for in a lover. There’s only one catch. He’s been undead for more than three hundred years. When Rachel is drawn into Giovanni’s world, she learns that the rules of human existence mean nothing in the world of vampires. This, however, is a fair price to pay for a love that will last forever.

Hunted by the Desmarais family, who carry a centuries-old vendetta, Rachel and Giovanni travel to the ends of the earth in order to stay one step ahead. Can their love survive, or will their eternity together end?

Content Warning: Violence, sexual encounters with the undead

The next book in the trilogy is out this month- check her website for details!

*And if you are interested, you can read my review over at VampChix. If you've read this book I'd love to know what you thought. Don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win book one in the Dark Kiss Trilogy!
