Angel of Vengeance contest

Last week I reviewed Angel of Vengeance over at VampChix (you can read the full review by clicking here) and today I have my review copy to give away to one lucky reader.

The book has been gently used and is in excellent condition. All you have to do for a contest entry is leave me a comment that relates to books versus television and what you prefer. Do you like to read the book first or does it matter? What is your favorite book to movie/television adaptation? I am particularly fond of Stephen King's The Shining. I also like just about every PBS or BBC show that comes from literature, like all the many different versions of Pride and Prejudice, or Sherlock Holmes. So leave a comment and you will have a chance to win Angel of Vengeance!

Nitty gritty details:

*The contest will run until April 22nd and the winner will be announced the next day.
*Open to U.S. residents only and no PO boxes.
*Please leave an email if one is not easily accessible in your profile.

I like to usually see the movie before I read the book because usually I've found the book contains so much more that the movie doesn't get to or twists to fit their version of events.
Some of my favorite book to movie titles are: Jurassic Park, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Aliens, Predator, Lord of the Rings, etc. Too many to name really. But I also love the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies. And the Stephen King movies as well. Silver Bullet and Green Mile are highlights of my DVD collection here. And for TV I like: True Blood, Blood Ties, The Dresden Files, etc.

If I know about the book before the show, then I like to read the book first. I don't feel like it spoils the show for me. With True Blood, I didn't know about the books until I had watched the first half of season 1. I wasn't much of a reader then, but I loved the show so much that I decided to read the books. That series is actually what got me started lovin to read again. I like that I've read the books also, because I can spot the creative differences and "book hints" in the show. It makes for a more thorough enjoyment. :-)

I find that I enjoy the TV show more if I haven't read the book. I've generally been dissapointed by TV shows made from books I've read.

I definitely like to read the book first so I have my own vision going on in my head. I thought Harry Potter was the best so far for book conversion. I loved the Eragon series by Paolini but the movie was ....eek :( I did enjoy the twilight series but I was not to found of the first movie. I think it has gotten better. i look forward to The mortal instruments next. please count me in for the win. I LOVE your books...all of them :)

I need to read the book first. But then I spend the whole movie or show time going, "OMG! It didn't happen that way." The book is always better, in my opinion. If I'm enjoying a show and I find out it was based on a book, I'll have to get the book.

I like to read the book first if possible and then watch the movie. But,it doesn't always happen that way does it? :)

I've always liked to read the book first, and then when I see the movie or TV show, it fills in the gaps for the things that are left out of the filmed version. The book always has much more detail that can't really be included in a 2 hour movie or show.

Unless the book has some age on it and I read it years earlier, I'll always choose to watch the movie/TV show before reading the book. I tend to pick the movie apart and compare it so much to the book that I have a hard time enjoying the movie.

BOOK FIRST!!! OMG I almost definitely read the book first. OF course I read HP and Twilight before they were movie. It's a tradition for me and a friend to see the HP movies and I pick out the things that are off. I've read The Mortal Instruments, The Hunger Games and Vampire Academy so if they become movies I'm set. Read the Shakespeare plays before their movies. I hate the English stuff so I haven't read any of Jane Ayer or Bronte sisters stuff. I love True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse books but I consider theme to be 2 deferent things almost b/c they are so different from each other. I was told that Black Swan was weird in the movie version but not the book. I was also told to watch I Am Four and to skip the book.

As far as stuff that I didn't read...everything by Stephan King that was made into a movie except for The Green Mile. I didn't read any of the Lord of the Rings trilogy but love the movies. The same for V for Vendetta.

I'd have to say my fav is the Leonardo DiDaprio and Clair Danes version of Romeo & Juliet.

There's many more but I've babbled enough LOL!

Generally I prefer books to movies or television. Whenever I see a movie after I've read the book, I always think of a million things they cut out.

My favorite book-based TV shows are True Blood (can't wait till Season 4!) and Blood Ties (which I still miss).

One of my favorite book-based movies has to be Somewhere in Time, starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Beautiful from start to finish!

I prefer to read the books even though that practice often makes me yell at the movie/television. I adore Stephen King's IT (the book and the movie) and Pride and Prejudice (though I prefer the 6-hour BBC version to the newer Hollywood one).

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I've read the book long before the movie and sometimes I see the movie than read the book. With the Twilight series I read the books first.

I prefer books There's more detail in them that no matter how long the series, can't be fit into tv or movies.
